Originally from Brooks, Alberta, Canada where Brent played junior hockey in the AJHL for 3 years. He then continued his hockey career at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, playing for the Blugolds. Brent has been coaching at PLHS for the past 15 years.

He currently lives in Shakopee with his wife, Robin. They have two children, Karth is a senior at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and Rylee is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota, Morris.

Joey joined the Prior Lake Boys High School Hockey program for the 2021 season.   Coach Kanz grew up playing hockey and baseball in Winona Minnesota going on to play college baseball. It comes as no surprise that he also coaches fast pitch softball and states "I have a real passion for inspiring our young adults through athletics and life lessons.”   Outside of coaching and policing our community you can find him spending time with his wife and three children or on the golf course.  "Yes I believe I can beat coach Pankratz in a golf match…..
